Italian strongest and most popular aperitif
To make the perfect classic negroni cocktail all you need is balance and the best ingredients you can find on the market.
This is a bitter cocktail, with notes of herbs, juniper and liquorice root with sweet and fruity notes added by the sweet vermouth and the orange garnish, which balance it all out.
Sophisticated and bold, Negroni is not a cocktail for the faint-hearted, it is a booze on booze kind of drink with an average alcohol content somewhere around 24% ABV (Alcohol By Volume) ā Pow! š
A little history
Negroni is a cocktail over a century old, as the first one was crafted in 1919 in Florence, Italy.
As legend goes, an Italian aristocrat whose go-to tipple was the Americano [sweet vermouth, Campari and soda water] one day desired a stronger drink with more of a kick. He asked the bartender of CaffƩ Casoni in Florence to replace the soda water with gin, and just like that the Negroni was born!
From CaffĆ© Casoni [todayās Giacosa CafĆ©, still serving up classic apĆ©ritifs in Florence] the Negroni has spread through the world, conquered the heart of movies and literature icons and inspired countless twists.
